Paul Dietrich's mission is to use all his talents & giftings given by God to make a difference in the lives of people. Assistant Pastor in Monteagle, Tn. and Worship Minister using all the experiences of a lifetime. In everything to bring Glory to God. A servant of the most high. Paul dedicates his life to Him.
Born in Aurora Il. in the 1960's. A son of hard working parents, his mother an immigrant from Germany, father a U.S. veteran. The youngest of 3 boys, all whom played sports, participated in music, and enjoyed church activities and learned to love the Lord. Parents & brothers were pretty fair singers. (none professional) Dad passed in 1988, brother Chuck 2007, brother Verne 2010, Mother in 2018.
Paul was an active child, some would have said too active. He enjoyed music the best but liked acting as super heroes which once lead to him being sent "to the coatroom" for wearing his Batman costume to school at 5. (hard time with the coats)
Active in Church, choirs, plays, drama groups, bands & music lessons, not to mention being an athlete all through school & college.
The serious pursuit of music started in the 1970's. Formal lessons in Voice, Piano, Composing/Arranging, drums/percussion. Paul attended college and received degrees in Music & Psychology and later MBA. A quarter finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Auditions. A principle Tenor in productions elsewhere. Thanks to Sten Halfvarson of Aurora, a mentor, a director, the path to music.(Thanks Sten)
Paul wants to take this opportunity to thank and show great gratitude to the musical educators & supporters that created the foundation for success, and their encouragement at critical points.
Paul's Aunt Delores was instrumental in his education & development. She was a superior academic tutor as well as an important Christian role model. Frequent trips to voice & piano lessons, concerts, parade marches, (Drum & Bugle Corp. (Fox Valley Raiders & The Cavaliers) plays, operas and ball games kept a busy schedule for this loving Aunt. Delores passed away Oct. 13th 2012. She is greatly missed by all who knew her & loved her.
Drum Instructors: Mike & Pat Murphy, Jeff Drake. Voice Instructors: Charlotte Piechel, Sten Halfvarson & Jim Allison.
Piano Instructors: Peggy Irwin, Dorthy Spring, Elaine Jones, Roberta Chambers, Dino Kartsonakas. Composition Instructor: Jeff Colleen
Like most musicians Paul started out in small venues working on his craft. Early on he worked Nashville's famous "Printer's Ally" back in it's hay day at "Boots Randolph's" "The Carousel" "Skull's" & "The Western Room"
Auditions & opportunities came in to begin working as a session player doing recordings and beginning to work with Artists doing Fairs, conventions & concerts.
Worldwide tours followed, appearances on Television, a 5 year run in Branson, Missouri working for Artists.
Depending on your goals & aspirations at some point you must strike out on your own and try to make something happen with your writing & performance. This is by far the most difficult pursuit. You mostly hear how you can't do it...and "no" is a somewhat common term used by decision makers.
Paul had three "near miss" opportunities with 3 different Major Record labels in Nashville. Once at 29, again at 33, and finally at 36. By this point playing the game and 'kissing the ring" was losing it's appeal and priorities were changing.
Despite the record deal not happening, Paul was still touring with Stars, performing his own show in the Caribbean & domestically. Jet setting around the country, to South & Central America & Europe. The income was pretty good and life continues. Though there is considerable time away from home, the lifestyle is addictive and you are not working "hard" like most other people you know.
Around 2011 the choice had to be made. After having finished up a successful season in Branson Missouri with legend Andy Williams of TV & Music fame, a true Icon, it was revealed that the show would not continue the next year as a fulltime show. Andy's age mostly was the determining factor, and budget constraints.
After almost 30 years of the pursuit of music (and Paul's Mom advancing in years), good opportunities becoming very few if any, and the money moving forward would begin substantially reducing, it was time to stop performing fulltime. There would still be a few tours ahead... but it was time to shift careers.
After having extensive "Tactical Training" earlier in life it made sense to call on those skills & expertise, and train to bring them up to date to transition into another career...far from the musical stage. (actually private bodyguard work brought me right back to the stage with artists I already knew)
"Any job worth doing...is worth doing right" especially when you protect other people's lives. There's only one way to do things...100%.
